Critical Bastards
CriticalBastardsMagazine · Céadfa Ceilte, Gavin Prior, Issue 16 Sense Critical Bastards Magazine
Critical Bastards Magazine seeks a new co-editor to join our small team. Critical Bastards is an Irish interdisciplinary art magazine: each issue engages with a particular theme and can include, amongst others, reviews, fiction, theory, poetry, interviews, and visual and aural responses to contemporary art. A rolling group of co-editors has taken care of CB since 2011.

The co-editor role involves conceptualising issues, editing, proofreading, engaging with artists and writers, authoring funding applications, sporadic event management, various administrative tasks and much discussion and collaboration with the other editors on our small team. The new co-editor would ideally be able to work with the team on at least the next two issues, themed “Access” and “Passion”.

There is a small fee for the role for the next two issues (about €350 per issue), however the magazine is primarily operated on a voluntary basis. Fees are funding dependent, but secured for the next two issues. Commitment time varies, but in the run up to publication a co-editor can expect to work around 7 hours per week.

To apply, please send/share an expression of interest titled ‘New Editor’ to telling the team why you want to be involved with the future of the publication by the 19th of November 2023. Expressions of interest can take any form – audio (no more than 3 mins), written (no more than 500 words), slideshow, etc.

Critical Bastards seeks applicants across all disciplines and levels of experience, particularly. welcoming applications from diverse cultural and socio – economic backgrounds, people with disabilities (seen and unseen) and/or neurodiversity and people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, members of the Traveller community and people from working class communities.
